Overall in excellent condition. The “Ginkgo” table is perhaps one of Claude Lalanne’s most celebrated functional sculptures, cleverly using monumental ginkgo leaves as tabletop. When viewed in person, the chairs present beautifully with warm variegated golden hues that enhance the rich visual appearance of the patina. The gilt bronze presents with minor surface and casting irregularities and minute pinholes which are inherent to the making and typical for works by Claude Lalanne. The recessed areas of the ginkgo leaves present with occasional and very faint discolorations to the gilding which are consistent with age and exposure to the elements. Highly compatible with the following two lots, this stunning table provides an opportunity to acquire a beautiful “Ginkgo” dining set by Claude Lalanne in remarkable condition, which is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
