monogrammed W.C. and dated 64
28 1/4 x 20 3/8 x 19 1/2 in. (71.7 x 51.8 x 49.5 cm)
Overall in excellent condition. When viewed in person, the walnut surfaces are slightly brighter and more vibrant than pictured in the catalogue illustration. The piece includes superb wood laminate selections and a variegated wood grain that highly complement this unusual form by Wendell Castle. The wooden surfaces appear to have been reconditioned at some point in the desk’s history. The walnut presents with very fine surface scratches, two of which on the side of the desktop are slightly more pronounced and each measuring approximately 1 inch long, as well as minute dents and shallow dimples to the wood which are not visually distracting. The drawer is slightly difficult to open and close but is fully functional and operative.
