Overall in excellent condition. When viewed firsthand, the present Oiseau de Jardin III presents with remarkable scale and a beautiful, evenly distributed golden patina. One of the artists’ most beloved motifs, the present Oiseau exhibits beautiful details in the form of delicate incisions on the wings and highly sculptural legs and feet. The patina is very well-preserved and even throughout, with very subtle variations in tonality which enhances the handmade quality of the work. The bronze surfaces exhibit a textural and delicately thatched surface inherent to production and to the artist’s technique. The bronze with some very minor irregularities to the metal and in casting inherent to production, including minute pinholes throughout which are not visible unless closely inspected and common for such works. The sculpture is suitable for outdoor use, in which case it may require upkeep from a metal conservator at the client’s discretion to preserve the integrity of the bronze surfaces. An exceptional sculpture by François-Xavier Lalanne.
