A rare large white jade 'dragon and phoenix' disc, bi
Qing dynasty, 18th century
the large disc finely carved and pierced in high relief with a dragon crawling from the underside carved with rows of bosses through the central aperture to the top surface encircled by three chilong and a phoenix, the stone a very pale celadon-white tone
Diameter 13.8 cm, 5⅜ in.
There are overall scattered nicks and minute chips to the raised parts and edges of the carving and rims of the disc, the largest a ca. 2cm wide area of fritts along the rim of the disc, and a ca.1cm wide polished area to the rim of the disc. A small chip to the ear of one chilong, and a line to the beard of the central chilong.
