A 'Longquan' celadon multi-spouted jar and cover

Northern Song dynasty

北宋 龍泉窰青釉蓮瓣紋五管瓶


formed as three stacked bulbs diminishing in size as they ascend, each bulb incised with overlapping petals carefully detailed with fine striations, the middle bulb set with five faceted upright mock-spouts, the tips of the spouts carved with a serrated edge, all set over a slightly splayed foot and surmounted by a short upright neck, the tall domed cover formed as two layers of pendent petals and topped by a foliate finial enclosing a bud-form knop, covered overall in a pale olive-green glaze suffused with craquelure (2)
