A blue and white 'landscape' censer
Qing dynasty, Kangxi period
of bombé form supported on a slightly splayed foot, the rounded sides sweeping to a gently flared rim, finely painted around the exterior with a continuous riverbank landscape with pavilions, rockwork, and trees, several figures strolling through the idyllic environs, all beneath a keyfret band and a row of small dots encircling the everted neck, the base with an apocryphal six-character Chenghua mark
Diameter 8 ⅛ in., 20.5 cm
Two chips to the mouth rim. Overall with a few firing imperfections, including kiln grits to the inside. Wear to the surface with scattered light scratches to the glaze, consistent with age.
