As Tiffany & Co.'s manufacturing plant was located outside Newark, New Jersey, it made them the logical provider of an important New Jersey commission such as this cup. The cup may have been presented to Governor Robert Stockton Green upon his departure from office. The symbols of Justice may reflect his profession of lawyer. The emphasis on the ploughs may commemorate the establishment of the state board of agriculture during his tenure as governor.
