molded with a serene expression on the face and hands together in, seated on a pierced rockwork base, the underside of the figure with an ES mark in black

height overall 16 7/8 in.; 43 cm

Purchased by the current owner’s great uncle in 1925, and thence by descent
An example from the same mold is illustrated in Florence Slitine, Samson: génie de l'imitation, Paris, 2002, p. 178. Another example, one of the original factory models from the showroom of Etablissement Edmé Samson, was sold at Christie's London, March 3rd, 1980, lot 198.
