Walsh was a federal judge and corporate attorney in New York, who served as Deputy Attorney General under President Dwight D. Eisenhower, was a negotiator at the Paris Peace Talks during the Vietnam War, and served as Independent Counsel in the investigation of the Iran-Contra affair from 1986 to 1992.
