Oregon Waffles were the first Waffle shoe sold to the public in 1973 by Nike. The iconic Waffle was named for the patented waffle iron-like pattern of the rubber outsole which Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman developed after being inspired by his wife’s waffle iron. The raised grid of polygon nubs increased stabilization with gripping edges that improved traction on multiple surfaces, without the need for metal spikes. Nylon used for the upper created light-weight durability.

  • 1975-1977 original Oregon Waffle.
  • Features the University of Oregon “Ducks” colorway in green and yellow.
  • Tongue labels have Nike's first logo in black lowercase cursive on orange Swoosh.
  • Made in Japan.
