Property of a Gentleman

A pair of Edwardian mahogany 'Ivor' easy armchairs by Howard & Sons

circa 1910

upholstered in the original Howard & Sons initialled ticking, on square tapering legs and brass castors stamped Howard & Sons, rear leg of each stamped HOWARD & SONS LTD BERNERS ST and serial number 19948 3050 and 19926 3014 respectively, with later red cotton covers, en suite with previous lot

In overall ‘country house’ condition and will benefit from some general conservation as this set supremely comfortable armchairs are in very original condition. The later red covers are tired with old marks and stains and would benefit from a deep clean. The chairs retain their original Howard & Sons ticking which is stained with minor tears and would also benefit from cleaning. The frames are sound and sturdy but the legs with typical scuffs and scratches with loses to varnish and will benefit from a polish according to taste. A country house classic.
