Head of a Madonna

Point of the brush and red wash over traces of red chalk on pale yellowish paper

244 by 174 mm; 9 5/8 by 6 7/8 in

Hinge mounted to a paper backing. There are four fractionally lighter areas of paper corresponding to the four corners of the sheet where it is likely that the sheet was previously adhered to an old album page. There is a small light brown stain to the forehead of the Madonna and two brown ink stains to the lower centre of the sheet. The drawing remains in otherwise good condition throughout with the washes strong throughout. Sold unframed.
