This is 40% Mourvèdre. All the aromatic spices on the nose. Touch of Seville oranges and heather in bloom. Glorious cherries taste. Immensely soft and alluring. Beaucastel is exceptional in '89 because of the Mourvèdre. So gummy at the end. On its 20th birthday, a pure gamey, soft, sugary, leathery nose. Great wine and a dream of complexity, dimension, liquorice and cherries. In 2011, intense, aromatic and fresh, with great elegance. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
