Circa 1845


Movement: gilded bar, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, signed H. Capt, Genève

Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute ring, moon hands, signed to the base H. Capt, Genève

Case: gold, the back chased and engraved with flowers and foliage heightened with blue enamel against a stippled ground, the top with blue enamel bordered roundel centred by a white fleur-de-lys beneath a stylised coronet, to the base a polychrome enamel painted scene of a castle beside the sea, a sailing ship in the mid-distance within a horizontal mandorla-shaped blue enamel frame, front and back with pearl-set bezels, pearl-set pendant and bow, plain polished gold cuvette with apertures for winding and hand-setting
