This Seamaster "Soccer Timer" from Omega is a great example of purpose-driven watch design. Envisioned and executed to calculate the elapsed time during a 90-minute soccer match accurately, the sub-dial at three o'clock is split into two colored halves, in order to indicate the time remaining in each 45-minute half at a glance.
