Vertical oban: 37.5 x 26.2 cm., 14⅝x 10 ¼ in.

Yamato Warrior: Horibe Yasubei Taketsune, in a scene from the story of the 47 Ronin (Chushingura). Here he is depicted in falling snow plunging his spear into his adversary who has fallen into icy water. Lead pigment has been applied by hand for dramatic effect.
