Memoranda During the War. Camden: Printed for the Author, 1875-76
8vo (197 x 128 mm). "Remembrance Copy" leaf and 2 portraits of the author, advertisement leaf at end. Publisher's gilt-lettered dark red cloth; faded, rebacked with some original spine surviving, front free endpaper cleanly detached but present, title and signed leaf remounted. Cloth case.
First edition, second issue, inscribed and signed by Whitman to George S and Kerziah Goff. Of this rare issue Wells and Goldsmith state that it is "impossible more than 100 copies were issued" (as most of the sheets were bound in the collective form of Two Rivulets).
