Large 8vo. Coated photographic title-page with oval portrait and two other portrait plates; stray spots, some toning, especially gray endpapers. In original brown buckram, top edge gilt, spine gilt; some wear at corners with exposure, minor wear at tail, minor rubbing. Rear joint repaired. In clamshell box.

Signed by Whitman on the title page. The first collected edition of Whitman's writings, number 155 of 600 numbered copies.
