Woodcut map (to sight: 490 x 366 mm). Handcoloring; one or two minor marginal repairs. Matted and framed; not examined out of frame.

Fries' re-engraved edition of Waldseemuller's earlier map reflects the geographical ambiguities of the age. Had Fries not chosen to retain the place name of "America" here, there is a chance it would have fallen out of use.
