"Ill Communication" used less sampling and more live instruments to deftly mix the Beastie Boys' influences—hip hop, punk rock, funk and jazz. It became their second number-one Billboard album and their second triple platinum album. Spike Jonze directed the video for the album's lead single "Sabotage."
