Description

A Fine Tsumeb Azurite

Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region, Namibia

Overall size 13.5 x 10.0 x 5.5 cm. Founded in 1905, the Tsumeb mine became one of the most prolific and widely varied producers of fine mineral specimens globally with over 240 various types discovered there, many claiming Tsumeb as their type locality. Amongst the most popular and sought-after species, Tsumeb azurites are well known for the quality of their color and sharp crystallization. This excellent example features numerous interpenetrating bladed azurite crystals of very high luster with extremely saturated blue hue and good translucency near the terminations. With custom lucite base.
