The arms are those of Broughton, baronets, for Sir John Delves Broughton, 7th Bart. of Doddington Park, baptized 1769, army general, married 1792 Elizabeth, sister of Sir John Egerton Bart. of Fulton Park, co. Chester. He died in 1847, his widow in 1857.

Doddington Park was built by Samuel Wyatt and landscaped by Capability Brown. In the 20th century, Jock Delves Broughton stood trial for the murder of the Earl of Erroll in Kenya but was acquitted. He took his own life in 1942, and the story became the basis for the movie White Mischief.
