Joseph Clare I, son of Francis Clare, Citizen and Baker of London, apprenticed to Nathaniel Locke, 1702, Free 4 November 1712, Livery October 1721. First address: Wood Street; second address: Love Lane, third mark entered Dec, 15 1771 "in Lumber Streete." Heal records him at Wood Street by Love Lane until 1720 and at the Blackamoor's Head Lombard street from 1721 until his death in 1728 (revised Grimwade, p. 465).
