Description

A Xingyao white-glazed tea bowl and stand,

Five dynasties

Tea bowl on lobed stand is a classic form produced in the Xing kilns during the latter part of the Tang dynasty, where its shape drew inspiration from gold and silver wares of the period. Related lobed stands were found in the Palace Museum, Beijing, and another from the Carl Kempe collection sold in our London rooms, 14th May 2008, lot 224.
