A picnic hamper Asprey & Co., circa 1930


comprising: a pair of metal sandwich boxes with pierced covers and enameled inserts, two wicker-bound bottles for wine and water with screw-on covers, one stamped 'Coracle', one bottle vacuum insulated, a pair or wicker-bound glass drinking beakers, a pair of salt and pepper shakers, a pair of enameled rectangular plates, a hardstone pate box and cover, a glass jar with metal cover, two forks and knives with faux ivory handles and a corkscrew with hinged helix, in a fitted brown leather case, initialled 'B' with green leather interior, pierced for aeration, stamped 'Asprey 166, Bond street, London.', push 'lock' opener

The stamped word Coracle on the wine bottle cover is the trade name of picnic hampers manufactured by G.W Scott and Sons. The firm invented the wicker picnic hamper which they first exhibited in the Crystal Palace in London in 1851.  They ceased trading in 1967
