Table Lamp

circa 1930

acid-etched and carved glass, silvered wrought iron

base and shade incised DAUM NANCY FRANCE with the Croix de Lorraine

18 ⅛ in. (46 cm) high

15 ¼ in. (38.7 cm) diameter of shade

Overall in very good condition. When illuminated, the lamp presents with rich contrast to the glass body and varying shades of pale salmon pink. The glass surfaces present with fine surface scratches throughout consistent with gentle use. The acid-etched glass surface presents with instances of rubbing and abrasions concentrated to the shade's rim and the base's uppermost rim consistent with contact with the silvered iron socket and arms. The recessed areas of the decorative motifs present with occasional and very minimal soiling to the glass consistent with age and concentrated to the center of the shade. The silvered iron element includes two lightbulb sockets (one for the shade and one for the base). The iron presents with some light oxidation and losses to the silvering throughout, consistent with age. Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.
