Pair of "Pommes de Pin" Armchairs

circa 1905

mahogany, velvet upholstery

34 ⅝ x 28 x 26 in. (87.9 x 71.1 x 66 cm) each

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces have been sensitively refinished at some point in the history of the piece. The wood presents with minor surface scratches, abrasions, and nicks concentrated to the legs and edges as consistent with age and gentle use. The chairs have preserved all of their carved decorative motifs in mahogany and present with light dust and surface residue in the recessed areas of the design. The wood of both chairs presents with evidence of prior instances of sensitive stabilizing and filling of hairline cracks which are not visually distracting. The velvet upholstery of each chair was sensitively replaced and presents very well overall with minor areas of wear and surface soiling. The proper right armrest of one chair with a few slightly more concentrated areas of faint surface staining, only visible upon close inspection.
