"Aubépine" Armchair

circa 1907

mahogany, embroidered silk upholstery

45 x 31 ¼ x 30 ½ in. (115.1 x 78 x 76.2 cm)

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces present with some very minor edge abrasions throughout consistent with age and gentle use and appear to have been sensitively refinished at some point in the history of the work. Some of the edges of the piece present with evidence of some occasional and minor later inpainting to the wood concentrated to the backrest. The upper back railing of the chair presents with small hairline age cracks to the wood which are stable. The later silk upholstery is in very good condition overall with some light discoloration to the fabric concentrated to the seating area. When viewed firsthand, the upholstery displays an overall more lavender hue compared to the catalogue illustration.
