Johnny Swing

Half-Dollar Chair

2003

number 13 from an edition of 50 plus 1 artist proof

welded half-dollars, stainless steel

with welded tag signed Johnny Swing and numbered HDC13KW16

32 1/4 x 46 x 32 (81.9 x 116.8 x 81.3 cm)

Overall in very good condition. The half-dollar coins present with surface irregularities inherent to the welding process as well as areas of discoloration and tarnish throughout consistent with age and the natural evolution of the medium. The stainless steel frame presents with scattered surface scratches and faint scuffing consistent with gentle use. A sculptural form characteristic of the contemporary designer’s practice.
