Animal et fleurs

signed and dated '52

oil on canvas

23 by 42 ⅛ in. 58.4 by 107 cm.

framed: 34 ¼ by 53 ⅝ in. 87 by 136.2 cm.

This work is in good condition overall. The colors are bright and fresh. There is evidence of wear and handling to the edges and corners, with associated abrasions and losses, which are obscured by the frame. Areas of heavy impasto appear to be secure and intact. Upon close inspection, there is an area of cracking with minor losses beneath the figure’s tail, which corresponds to an approximately 3-inch repaired tear, which is visible on the reverse. There are also two diagonal areas with associated cracking and pinpoint losses running along the lower left quadrant, which appear slightly raised. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the area around the repaired tear fluoresces darkly and the aforementioned diagonal raised lines fluoresce darkly and appear to have benefited from restoration. Framed.
