1 page, folio (391 x 254 mm). Printed on a single leaf in one column below a four-line headline, signed in print by George Washington as President, signed by the Secretary of State ("Sam. A. Otis"), and Clerk of the House of Representatives ("John Beckley"); slight separation along old horizontal folds, a few small closed tears to edges, lightly creased.


Reads, in part: "There shall be allowed ... the yearly compensations ... to the Chief Justice four thousand dollars; to each of the Justices of the Supreme Court three thousand five hundred ... and to the attorney-general of the United States fifteen hundred dollars..."
