framed: 13 7/8 by 12 3/8 in.; 35.2 by 31.4 cm.  

Maria Maddalena Farnese, Palazzo Ducale, Parma, by 1693 (inventory 1693);
Thence by inheritance to her brother, Antonio Farnese, Palazzo Ducale, Parma, by 1708, until at least 1731 (inventories 1708, 1731, 1736);
Thence by inheritance to Carlo di Barbone, later King Charles III of Spain (who inherited the Farnese title in 1731), by 1736, Parma and Naples (the painting was brought to Naples by 1745, probably in 1736, but is unrecorded in subsequent inventories and was perhaps taken from Naples by French troops circa 1797, though almost certainly left between 1767-1821);
