Large album of over one hundred photographs, c.1900


Oblong folio (325 x 430mm.), 110 albumen prints (typically 160 x 200mm.), contemporary quarter hard-grained morocco with pebble-grained cloth sides, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers with cloth hinges, some light toning, occasional spotting, a few small marginal chips to mounts, two short tears to first mount, binding rubbed, upper joint hinge broken, corners lightly bumped

A superb collection of late 19th- and early 20th-century albumen photographs, mostly of North America, Mexico and Italy. Many of the New York photographs are by Theo. Gubelman of 41, Newark Avenue, New Jersey, whose work is found in various notable collections, including that of the Library of Congress.
