A rare view of Baku, showing the Frabrick von Albrecht Company oil refinery. Azerbaijan is the largest country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, located between Eastern Europe and Western Asia and Baku is its capital city and largest port. In the late nineteenth century oil was discovered in the country, causing European and American oil companies to move to the region in the hope of reaping great rewards.
