Please note the colors and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings. This large, early print has a smooth, slightly glossy, surface. The photographer's original hand-coloring is visible throughout: the colors include a vivid red-orange on the doll's hand; yellow, green, and blue on its body; and flushed flesh-tones on its face. The background features a wash of tea green. Although the coloration is quite vivid overall, it may have become more muted with age. By comparison, the tinting on the small prints tipped into Bellmer's book 'Les Jeux de la Poupée' is often more saturated. This photograph is in generally excellent condition. It is trimmed to the image and there is occasional edge chipping, mainly along the right edge. Visible only in high raking light are a few small, soft creases that likely occurred prior to mounting. There is a very small diagonal crease bisecting the upper left corner that appears to break the emulsion. This photograph is flush-mounted to card. On the reverse are two small adhesive remnants at the lower corners from previous hinges. There is an illegible pencil notation on the reverse.
