'I. B. Singer (New York' (Isaac Bashevis Singer)

platinum-palladium print, flush-mounted to aluminum, signed, titled, dated, editioned '18/25,' and annotated in pencil and stamped on the reverse, framed, 1966, printed in 1981

image: 15 by 15 ⅝ in. (38.1 by 39.7 cm.)

frame: 28 ½ by 24 ¾ in. (72.4 by 62.9 cm.)

Please note the colors and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings. This photograph is in generally excellent condition. The margin is very faintly darkened in a thin band at the periphery of the image, perhaps a result of the printing process. There is a pinpoint-sized deposit of indeterminate nature in the lower left margin. There is minor margin edge and corner wear. On the reverse, the annotations in the photographer's hand in pencil are: 'D.D.'; '2908 [circled]'; 'Rives Paper on aluminum / Multiple Coating and Printing / 1 [circled] Platinum - palladium / 2 [circled] Platinum - palladium'; and 'Print made January 1981.' The stamps read 'IRVING PENN / Hand-coated by the photographer' and 'Deacidified.' The edition stamp indicates that in addition to the 25 numbered prints in platinum metals, there may also exist no more than 15 unnumbered, but signed, gelatin silver prints of this image. The photographer's copyright stamp is dated '1966' in pencil.
