'Derrick-man who directs and controls the derrick with its great loads, Empire State Building'

gelatin silver print, titled in pencil and the photographer's 'Interpretive Photography / Hastings-on-Hudson, N. Y.' stamp on the reverse, framed, circa 1930

image: 9½ by 7 ½ in. (24.1 by 19.1 cm.)

frame: 16 ¾ by 14 ¾ in. (42.5 by 37.5 cm.)

Please note the colors and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings. This print, on double-weight paper with a slight surface sheen, is in generally excellent condition. The image is printed slightly askew on the paper. Visible only under close examination is a faint paperclip-shaped impression at the upper center and a circular matte deposit to the right of the figure, possibly retouching. The reverse is age-darkened, particularly around the periphery. The following are written in an unidentified hand in pencil: '15 [circled]'; '1E'; '228'; '22'; '32'; and 'new print' (partially erased). When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
