I Robot Ten Principles

set of ten digital prints mounted on foam core

each: 33 by 22 by 1/2 in. (84 by 56 by 1 cm).

This 10 piece set is a sarcastic and whimsical reference to the 10 Principles of Burning Man and were created in 2018 for the I, Robot Burning Man theme that year:

https://burningman.org/culture/history/brc-history/event-archives/2018-event-archive/2018-art-theme-i-robot/.

This 10-piece set was displayed at Burning Man Headquarters in San Francisco and come from Burning Man’s own historical art collection and archive. The complete set was donated to Burning Man by Bucky de Rothschild and each of the 10 images is a world unto itself with complex layers of meanings and playful innuendo throughout. Are the robots finding grace in humanity and the natural world? Are they developing souls and consciousness? Or are they mimicking us, telling us what to do, and taking over?

The concept for this imaginative edition is the brainchild of ecologist, environmentalist and artist Bucky de Rothschild, in collaboration with Fabien Quintero and Oliver Flores. This kind of collaboration is quite typical of Burning Man and speaks to collaborative art making and the spirit of Gifting in the culture. These images were originally printed on individual stickers that were gifted to lucky recipients at Burning Man 2018. This full set of digital large format prints was specially printed for display at Burning Man headquarters. The artistic rights of reproduction remain with the artists. This set is for personal enjoyment only. You might keep some and gift the others. They are wonderful as a set or to gift to fellow robot-lovers.
