Affolter dated 1928, spine gilt in compartments, edges uncut and gilt, red silk endpapers, matching slipcase, original printed wrappers bound in (one on yellow paper, one lettered "Tirage special pour les XX")

An attractive copy of this tale set in the Renaissance, written by the zoologist cum novelist Maurice Maindron. This is one of twenty special copies which were each issued with original illustrations by different artists. The present copy has drawings by Lucien Pillot (1882-1973).
