8vo (188 x 130mm.), copy number V from a limited edition of 20 copies on papier vélin d'Arches, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR beneath the justification, frontispiece portrait of the author, additionally illustrated with 13 ink and watercolour drawings by Lucien Pillot, red morocco gilt tooled in period style in by P. Affolter dated 1928, spine gilt in compartments, edges uncut and gilt, red silk endpapers, matching slipcase, original printed wrappers bound in (one on yellow paper, one lettered "Tirage special pour les XX")
An attractive copy of this tale set in the Renaissance, written by the zoologist cum novelist Maurice Maindron. This is one of twenty special copies which were each issued with original illustrations by different artists. The present copy has drawings by Lucien Pillot (1882-1973).
