4to (300 x 235mm.), copy number A from a limited edition of 111 copies, one of 31 with a double suite of illustrations on papier japon, "EXEMPLAIRE UNIQUE CONTENANT LES ORIGINAUX DE G. JEANNIOT", original watercolour frontispiece signed by Georges Jeanniot dated 1927, 21 handcoloured engraved illustrations and plates, with an additional two states of plates (black and white and colour), red morocco by René Aussourd, spine lettered in gilt, watered silk endpapers, all edges gilt, red slipcase, upper joint slightly cracked

A portfolio of Jeanniot's 21 original illustrations in pencil and watercolour, each with a tissue guard, 4to (310 x 239mm.), in folded paper wrapper within a matching red half morocco folder, red slipcase, one tissue wrapper slightly torn, spine rubbed at foot

A fine combination of a limited edition copy of Diderot's text, structured as a conversation between 'Moi' and 'Lui', with the original illustrations by the celebrated French Impressionist Georges Jeanniot (1848-1934), including a wonderful original watercolour of a Parisian woman lounging on a chair.
