Description
Pablo Picasso
Document signed ("Picasso"), acknowledging receipt of eighteen documents from Éditions de la Pleiade,
which Picasso had lent to Boris Kochno for his book on the Ballets of Diaghilev, 1 page, oblong 8vo (c.12.5 x 21cm), Paris, 9 May 1931, some creasing to the left- and right-hand margins"...Reçu de Éditions de la Pléiade 18 documents prêtés par moi à Boris Kochno, pour un édition sur les Ballets de Diaghilew..."
Picasso designed several of Diaghilev's epoch-making productions, notably Satie's ballet Parade (1917), Falla's The Three-Cornered Hat (1919) and Stravinsky's Pulcinella (1921). Boris Kochno's book Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes was not published until 1970 (in English), although he produced a number of exhibitions and smaller works on the Ballets Russes before that.
