A gilt-bronze and cloisonné enamels 'prunus and butterflies' box and cover

Qing Dynasty, first half of the 19th century


of compressed globular form resting on a short straight foot, the domed cover decorated with a central round medallion enclosing a red-trunk flowering prunus tree surrounded by butterflies and auspicious items, all against a turquoise ground of leiwen, the base similarly decorated with auspicious objects, the base with florets reserved on a black ice-crackled ground, the interior turquoise
