Japan, late 17th - early 18th century

of hexagonal baluster form, painted with a phoenix in a continuous garden scene with rocks and foliage, the shoulder with a stylised palmette and lotus leaf border and stiff leaf band, the cover decorated with foliage scroll surmonted by a bud finial
