A 'benjarong' ‘bodhisattva’ bowl

China for the the Kingdom of Siam, 19th century


with steeply rounded sides rising from a short ring foot to an everted rim, the outside decorated with alternating figures of Norasinghs and Thepanom angels amidst foliage scrolls reserved on a black-ground, the interior is green-glazed with a center medallion, the rim with floral bands

D. 14.4 cm, 5⅝ in.
