Le Codex du Poète, Mythologie du Poète, Première Naissance

signé VICTOR BRAUNER et daté IV. 1947 (en bas à gauche)

huile sur toile

91,7 x 72,9 cm; 36⅛ x 28¾ in.

Peint en avril 1947.

L'authenticité de cette œuvre a été confirmée par Samy Kinge.

The work has been examined framed. The canvas is not lined and slightly wavy. Examination under UV light reveals a few small dots of retouching to the upper part of the red circle towards the centre of the upper edge. There is a small concave bent to the extreme right part of the upper edge. There are a few scattered flecks of paint losses, notably to the lower part of the figure’s torso and towards the centre of the blue shape on the left and to the left part of the upper edge. There is some minor flaking to the upper part of the orange shape on the right. There are a few hairline lines of stable craquelure in places, most predominately to the purple background. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges with associated small dots of paint losses. There are a few dots of dirt to the surface, most predominately to the upper right quadrant. Colours are nice and fresh. This work is in overall good condition and could benefit from a light clean.
