 La joueuse de mandoline

signé Marie Laurencin et daté 1948 (en haut à droite)

huile sur toile

60,7 x 49,8 cm; 23⅞ x 19⅝ in

Peint en 1948.

The work has been examined framed. The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals areas of fluorescence which does not appear to be related to any retouching. There are lines of craquelure in places, most predominately to the most thickly applied pigment and in the pink area to the lower right quadrant (as visible in the catalogue illustration). There are a few small dots of paint losses to the beige pigment towards the lower left corner. There are some minor stains and tiny fly spots in places. This work is in overall good condition and could benefit from a light clean.
