A Roman Marble Portrait Head of a Girl

1st half of the 1st Century A.D.


her centrally parted wavy hair pulled back behind the ears, falling in ringlets over the forehead, gathered in a plait on the back, and wound in a braid around the crown of the head, the neck carved for insertion into a bust or statue; no restorations.

Height 27 cm.
