The present work depicts the home of the artist’s great-grandfather, Hezekiah King, in Dutchess County, New York. Moses revisited this subject several times during her career and was proud of her family heritage, having heard stories growing up of Hezekiah King fighting the British in the Siege of Fort Ticonderoga in 1777.
