Overall in very good condition. A highlight from the collection of Michelle Smith, the present Bélier is an impressive and incredibly rare iteration of the Bélier form. When viewed in person, the patina presents with a richly textured “hatched'' surface quality and a superb variegated patina displaying hues of a deep rich green with golden ochre undertones. The patinated bronze surfaces have recently been sensitively cleaned and waxed by a professional restorer with strong expertise in works by Les Lalanne. The bronze presents with surface and casting irregularities inherent to the making and commonly seen in works by the artist, which include particulate inclusions and surface imperfections to the bronze surfaces throughout. The edges of the feet present with some light discoloration to the patina consistent with age. The legs and feet with some minute verdigris spots which are not visually distracting. Offered en suite with the following lot, the present lot provides the rare opportunity for Lalanne collectors to acquire a matching pair of this dynamic and graceful form.
