Black Bolide 35cm in Taurillon Clemence Leather with Gold Hardware, 1992
This Black Hermès Bolide bag is crafted in Taurillon Clemence leather with gold toned hardware.
The bag features two sturdy rolled top handles, five gold toned studded feet on the base and a top zip closure. The top opens to a spacious dark green smooth leather lining and a wide patch pocket.
The Bolide has gone through several phases, but the idea for the bag dates back to 1923, when the first version was created to commemorate the launch of a new model of Bugatti. The word bolide meant meteor at first and then in the twentieth century the French called the fast new cars 'bolides'. Emile Hermes created this bag for a friend who was passionate about the automobile in 1923. After finding the zipper in America he attached this to the bolide and the bag as we know it was born.
